Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD)
Program Documents

Ages 8 – 20 ONLY

JOAD Monthly Class Schedule (4 times per month):
  • By Invite Only, once prerequisites have been fully met
  • Membership Fee: $60 Annual renewal + $100 per month per student (no pro-rating)
  • 1st Three (3) Saturdays (Beginner – Advanced) or 1st Three (3) Sundays (Elite Only) each month at the times listed will be instruction and training
  • 5th Saturday / Sunday in a month there will be NO lesson
Program LevelSession Prerequisites
JOAD: Beg.• Completion of an Insurance Waiver and Release
• Safety Lesson Completed with any USAA Certified Coach / Instructor (verification required)

• Been invited to join the California Indoor Archer (aka “the CIA”) by both Coaches after all the following prerequisites have been met and when there is available space in the JOAD Beginner Group:
••••> successfully adhere to safety protocols and rules of the range at all times
••••> consistently shoot from the 20 yard / 18 meter Shooting Line at a 60cm target

REQUIRED: USAA Youth All-Access Membership
(not related to CIA club membership)

ALL prerequisites of Beginner Group + be approved to move up by both Coaches after all the following prerequisites have been met and when there is available space in the JOAD Intermediate Group
• Must have achieved 4th JOAD Achievement Pin (score based – 300 point round)
• Able to consistently shoot from no closer than the 20 yard / 18 meter Shooting Line at no larger than a 40cm target (even if they are not 15 that year)
• Shows good knowledge of “BASIC” equipment use and equipment maintenance
• Demonstrates good understanding and implementation of the BASIC “Steps of Shooting
• Competing in at least 2 tournaments of their choosing each year: school team, charity, local, state, national, international (USAA/NFAA/CBH)
JOAD: Adv.
REQUIRED: USAA Youth All-Access Membership
(not related to CIA club membership)

ALL pre-requisites of Beginner & Intermediate Groups + be approved to move up by both Coaches after all the following prerequisites have been met and when there is available space in the JOAD Advanced Group
• Must have achieved 7th JOAD Achievement Pin (score based – 300 point round)
• Shows good knowledge of “ADVANCED” equipment use and equipment maintenance
• Demonstrates excellent understanding and implementation of the BASIC “Steps of Shooting
• Competes in at least 1 California State (USAA/NFAA/CBH) tournament each year
• Competing in at least 2 additional tournaments of their choosing each year: school team, charity, local, state, national, international (USAA/NFAA/CBH)
JOAD: Elite
REQUIRED: USAA Youth All-Access Membership
(not related to CIA club membership)

Must be specifically invited to join this group level by both Coaches after all the following special perquisites exceeded and only when there is available space in the JOAD Elite Group

• Student was previously in the Intermediate or Advance group and now wishes to proceed with higher training by actively committing to competition participation
• Shows outstanding knowledge of “ADVANCED” equipment use and equipment maintenance
• Demonstrates excellent understanding and implementation of the ADVANCED “NTS – Steps of Shooting”
• Practices/Trains at least once a week in addition to the normally scheduled weekly weekend group class
• Willingness to both try new techniques and bow types
• Shows strong leadership, sportsmanship and teamwork skills in class as well as at tournaments
• Student is actively working towards state/national ranking by entering the tournaments that allow them to be ranked each year
• Competes in at least 3 California State (USAA/NFAA/CBH) tournament each year
• Competing in at least 3 additional tournaments of their choosing each year: school team, charity, local, state, national, international (USAA/NFAA/CBH)

Adult Archery Program (AAP)
Program Documents

AAP Monthly Class Schedule (4 times per month):

  • By Invite Only, once prerequisites have been fully met
  • Membership Fee:  $75 Annual renewal + $100 per month per student (no pro-rating)
  • 1st Three (3) Sundays each month at the times listed will be instruction and training
  • 4th Sunday each month will be a Tournament Style Pin Shoot to gauge student progress and prepare archers for tournaments
  • 5th Sunday in a month there will be NO lesson
